Ashlee’s Story of Finding Family Through ISF
For Ashlee, ISF has been more than just a scholarship—it has been a family. “ISF is far more than a scholarship,” she shares. “It’s a family that provides the support many of us in foster care have never known. The bonds I’ve forged with fellow members are deep and enduring, making me feel stronger and truly valued.”
At the ISF Leadership Retreat in Dallas, Ashlee met her mentor, Chris, and the two instantly bonded. Since then, Chris has been a constant source of encouragement, helping Ashlee navigate academic success, financial decisions, and major life transitions.
“Despite my nervousness, she stayed by my side throughout the day’s activities, and we talked about life and everything in between,” Ashlee says. “I now see Mrs. Chris as a family member, someone I admire and who will always support me and offer valuable advice.”
Though they live in different cities, Chris and Ashlee remain closely connected. Whether celebrating Ashlee’s achievements, discussing budgeting and career decisions, or providing emotional support, Chris continues to be an essential part of Ashlee’s journey.
“I’ve stressed the importance of following God’s will in her life,” Chris shares. “I encouraged her through a long-distance move, and next year she will be going for her master’s degree. I feel like we’ve become family, and I couldn’t be prouder of Ashlee and her accomplishments!”
Ashlee’s story is a testament to the power of mentorship and the community that ISF fosters. Because of ISF, she is thriving—not just academically, but in life. Through mentorship and support, ISF is igniting possibilities and changing the future for foster youth like Ashlee.
