A Little Help Goes a Long Way

A little goes a long way in closing the gap between aged-out foster care youth and a college education. ISF students rarely have a safety net, so we supplement our scholarships with "rainy day" funds that make life a little easier for students to focus on their education. Below are just a few of the many anecdotes we could share about the small but important ways your support can help:

technology

"ISF provided me with the technology I needed to be more efficient at school and allowed me to get a better job."

groceries

"I had to stay on campus over the break, and food sources were expensive and scarce. ISF helped me get groceries until on-campus dining opened back up."

car

"My car broke down and I could not afford the repair. Without a car, I cannot work or go to school. I called ISF and they worked with the car repair place to negotiate the cost of the repair and pay the bill."

hotel

"The last time a hurricane came, the authorities told me I had to evacuate. I literally had nowhere to go and was so scared for my safety. ISF helped me get a hotel room for a couple of nights until the hurricane passed."

I lost my job and fell behind on my bills. After a few weeks of job hunting I got a great position that required me to drive to work. Then my car finance company repossessed my vehicle due to lack of payment. I was embarrassed and did not know what to do–if I did not have my car I could not get to my new job, and then I would not be able to catch up on any of my outstanding bills. I had no one to go to until I remembered ISF. They helped me pay the car finance company to get me up to date so I could get my car back! Within a few weeks of working at my new job, I was all caught up with my bills. I did not have to drop out of school, which was my biggest fear.

When you give a recurring gift to the International Student Foundation, you help students with the heavy lifting so they can focus on their goal: a college education!
