Faith entered foster care at the age of 2 and remained in the foster care system for 19 years. Throughout her time in care she has moved 9 times to various foster homes as well as kin-ship care, and experienced failed adoption attempts. At an early age Faith learned how to be self-sufficient and after high school she went right into college while helping to financially support her younger sister who is also in college. Faith aged out of the South Carolina Foster Care System at the age of 21. Faith is currently attending Winthrop University where she will graduate with her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and minor in Health Care Management. Upon graduation she plans to attend Trident College to continue working towards a future career in Occupational Therapy. Her ultimate goal is to work with social services while establishing a career as an Occupational Therapist.
Faith’s special achievements include being named the 2010 South Carolina Foster Club All-Star. She is currently the President of GOALL, a state-wide youth advisory board which advises SC Dept. of Social Services on issues concerning youth in foster care. She has been a presenter and key-note speaker for various associations in South Carolina and was a presenter at the Senate Caucus in Washington DC. She has been an Obama campaign assistant, is a member of the Winthrop Ambassador Program, and is Vice-President of the Exercise Science Club.
